Privacy without giving up your daylight
Street facing windows, a new neighbor, a bathroom window, a front room that's on display after dark.
The simple answer to privacy is to close everything, but then you lose the daylight and the view. A better answer is a window treatment that lets you choose which part of the window to cover and how much light comes through.
We have several ways to do that. Your Design Specialist will help you pick the right one for each room, and on inside mount Roller, Banded and Honeycomb Shades, a peel and stick Privacy Light Block adds even more privacy and dims the room.
Honeycomb Shades
Top Down / Bottom Up
Lower the shade from the top and the bottom stays covered, so you keep your privacy at eye level and let daylight in over the top. Clear handles on the bottom and middle rails make it easy to set.
Prefer a button? BLISS Top Down / Bottom Up moves the top or bottom with the touch of a button, a tap in the app, or by voice through Google Home or Alexa.

TriLight Shades
A sheer by day, privacy at night
TriLight Shades pair a sheer pleated shade with a honeycomb shade. Use the sheer during the day to cut the glare and UV while you keep the view, then close the honeycomb for full privacy. It's a great fix for a window that faces a new neighbor.

Banded Shades
Privacy you adjust a little at a time
Line up the solid bands for privacy, or shift them so the sheer bands let in soft light while you can still see out. You never have to raise the shade to change the light.

Plantation Shutters
Split tilt shutters
With Split Tilt, the top and bottom louvers move separately. Close the bottom for privacy and open the top for light, which works well on street facing windows.

Tilt the slats, keep the view
Angle the slats and you can see out while it's hard for people outside to see in during the day. Close them all the way at night.

Is there a way to get privacy and keep my daylight?
Yes. Top Down / Bottom Up Honeycomb Shades cover the lower part of the window and let daylight in over the top. TriLight Shades let you use a sheer during the day and close a honeycomb shade at night. Banded Shades and split tilt shutters both let you adjust light and privacy without covering the whole window.
Can people see in at night with the lights on?
With light filtering fabrics, people outside can see shadows and light at night. If a room needs full privacy after dark, choose a room darkening or blackout fabric, add a liner to a Natural Woven Shade, or close the louvers on your shutters or blinds. We'll show you samples so you can compare.
What's a good choice for a bathroom window?
Faux Wood Blinds handle moisture well, and Top Down / Bottom Up Honeycomb Shades let light in over the top while the lower window stays covered.
Can I get something on the windows while I wait for my order?
Yes. If you need privacy right away, tell us when you book your consultation. We'll install free temporary shades on every window you're ordering new window coverings for, so you're covered until the custom order is installed.
Is the in-home consultation really free?
Yes. A Design Specialist brings samples to your home, measures your windows, and gives you a detailed quote before leaving. There's no charge for the visit, and you'll know exactly what your project costs before you decide.
