Sliding Glass Door Solutions by 605 Blinds
A sliding glass door is the biggest piece of glass in most rooms, and the hardest one to cover well. Here are the products we put on sliding doors and French doors, and how each one handles privacy, light and walking through.
Sliding Glass Doors
Sliding & patio doors, covered the right way
Every product below is measured at your door, built to fit it, and installed by our own Install Techs.
If you have a patio door or sliding glass door, chances are you've struggled to find a good way to cover it. Open glass on a big door creates privacy problems, lets radiant heat and cold push into the room, and can make the space feel unfinished.
Vertical blinds are the option everyone knows, and we'd like to show you a few more. We'll match the product to how you use the door and how the room looks, and our Design Specialists are glad to help you find the best fit for your slider.
Panel Tracks
Panel Track Shades for sliding doors
Panel Track Shades use the same fabrics as our Roller Shades, hung in flat panels that slide on a track. That gives you the full range of light filtering, room darkening and blackout fabrics, and a clean, modern look that coordinates with the rest of the room.
Panels can stack to the left, to the right, or split in the center, depending on your door and your furniture, and a single stationary wand moves them with no cords. Mount them to the ceiling and they double as a room divider.

Vertical Honeycombs
Vertical Honeycomb Shades for doors
A big sliding door lets a lot of cold and heat into a room. Vertical Honeycomb Shades open side to side and bring the same insulation as our Honeycomb Shades to the door.
Slide them closed for privacy and comfort, and open them for easy access to the patio. Choose light filtering fabric for a soft glow, or blackout for full privacy.

Plantation Shutters
Shutters for sliding doors
Shutters on a sliding door give the room a rich, finished look. Tilt the louvers for privacy and light, and move the panels out of the way when you want to use the door.
Shutter panels need room to move, so your Design Specialist will check the wall space beside your door and recommend the right setup before you order.

Banded Shades
Two-on-One Banded Shades
For a patio door with windows beside it, Two-on-One Banded Shades put two shades on one headrail with separate controls. The run looks like one clean shade across the top, and you can raise the shade over the door while the window stays covered.

French Doors
French door solutions
French doors have a handle in the way and a door that swings, so the covering has to work with both. Plantation Shutters can be built for French doors in composite or premium wood, and an arched shutter can finish the transom above them.
Your Design Specialist will measure the doors and the trim around them, and show you what fits before you order.

Straight Answers
Frequently Asked Questions
Which covering is best for a sliding glass door?
It depends on what you want the door to do. Vertical Honeycomb Shades if the room runs hot or cold, because that glass lets a lot of heat and cold in. Panel Track Shades for a clean, modern look and the widest choice of fabrics. Plantation Shutters for a rich, finished look when there's room beside the door for the panels. Your Design Specialist will walk you through each one standing at the door itself.
Will the covering get in the way when I walk through the door?
No. Panel Track Shades slide to the side, vertical Honeycomb Shades open side to side, and shutters are built to work with the way your door opens. Tell us which panel of your door slides and we'll plan around it.
Can the door match the windows next to it?
Yes. Panel Track Shades use the same fabrics as our Roller Shades, and vertical Honeycomb Shades coordinate with the Honeycomb Shades on your windows, so the whole room looks like it goes together.
What works on French doors?
Plantation Shutters can be built for French doors in composite or premium wood, and an arched shutter can finish a transom above them. Doors have handles and a swing to plan around, so your Design Specialist will measure and show you what fits.
Can I get something on the windows while I wait for my order?
Yes. If you need privacy right away, tell us when you book your consultation. We'll install free temporary shades on every window you're ordering new window coverings for, so you're covered until the custom order is installed.
Is the in-home consultation really free?
Yes. A Design Specialist brings samples to your home, measures your windows, and gives you a detailed quote before leaving. There's no charge for the visit, and you'll know exactly what your project costs before you decide.
